Thornberry Poetry Competition 2021

Following on from the success of last years story writing competition, this year we are bringing you a poetry writing competition.

The competition is FREE to enter. The age categories are: Up to 7 years, 8-12 years, 13-17 years and 18+ years. There will be awards for each category.

However, the best part of all is that we will publish the best poems entered, up to a total of 365 poems. The focus of the poems should be about an animal or pet that you know or once knew. This could be a cat, dog, rabbit horse, donkey, guinea pig or any other wonderful animal. If you love them, tell the world why.

Your poem should be unpublished and you can send up to three in total. Any style is fine, short or long, serious or funny, rhyming or not. Describe or tell a tale. Write from the pet’s view or your own. It’s up to you.

PLEASE SEND YOUR POEMS IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL OR AS A WORD DOCUMENT.

Every email entry will be acknowledged by email reply. If you don’t get an acknowledgement after about a week, your email hasn’t arrived (we check other folders too). Please re-send

In the EMAIL subject box please put: your full name, age-category and the title of your poem.
